Can Mobile Phones Replace Laptops?

Categories: , , , , ,

Mobile phones are developing day by day having all the features and facilities that are required by man. They can be used any time, place that one wants to. A phenomenon of using the internet on Mobile is becoming more and more obvious especially since the iPhone arrived (2008). Therefore, it re-launched Internet for mobile phones and consequently people became more dependent to their phone.

‘Is the mobile phone replacing or is it taking the place of the laptop or computers? This is a debatable issue and can be Disagreed as follows’.

NO FIXED LOCATION
Apart from the benefit of been able to use the phone at any time and any place, there is also the advantage of easy access to it, but there are also some hazards associated with its use. Most people tend to use their phone at home, work or even when they are driving. And the use of phones while driving can cause severe accidents, to the user of the phone or the passengers. This is a disadvantage hence the computer should be used instead of phones for safety reasons.

INSTANT ACCESS/ CONVENIENCE

Mobile phones render a lot off services like giving geographically information. And also giving the information about the services and offers. it should be noted that the latest GPRS and 3G services are always on, avoiding the need for lengthy connection. As much as this is convincing it is not certain that at every place the user will be take the advantage of good connection and it not possible to have GPRS and 3/3.5G facilities in each and every phone. It is very much known that there are some places where connection is bad or very poor. And there are also possibilities that connection may be interrupted while you are travelling, due to bad coverage or no network .Examples of these are like the underground trains (subways). At an area like this accessing the network via your phone will be very hard or difficult. And compared with the fixed line or LAN speed for internet access fixed laptop or computer facilities is much higher than the phone GPRS facilities.
PRIVACY AND SECURITY
With the use of mobile phones one is sure of privacy when compared to desktops usage. Mobile phones can also be used as reminders that provide alert and also, there are a lot of things that can be stored in the phone. Which include private data and other important information including numbers, diary, pictures and messages. And henceforth when it gets stolen, which can easily happen since it is a very small device compared to an actual computer, one will lose all the important data and contact details without having a backup. While in the case of a computer or laptop one can backup the important data and if it breaks down it can be recovered by using the software’s available.
Nowadays mobile phones are very personalized and whatever information we want can get it from our mobile phones, but research say that uses of mobile phone is very harmful to the brain and heart. The radiation coming out of the mobile affects the internal system of the brain and usages of multiple programs at a time.
And most importantly one cannot use a mobile phone in the cooperate world like in presentation and group discussions, due to the fact that the screen is quite small and the facilities in a phone are not suitable for presentations or group discussions.

In a nutshell then, it is easily seen that a phone cannot perform the work of the computer. Therefore the phone will always be there and so will the computers and laptops.

The article mentioned a lot about the negatives of using a mobile phone and failed to make comparisons with those of the computer. There was repeated mention of the health implications that using a mobile phone causes... but it can be argued, that use of the laptop has numerous health implications (carpal tunnel syndrome, vision, neck pain etc). Also there was no mention of new technologies in computer such as the Ipad or the net book, which would highlight the portability of the computer.

As it relates to internet connectivity both computer and mobile are exposed to poor connectivity at times. Privacy is a major concern for both however the computer is under greater threat... more hackers target computers than phone.

Overall this is a very informative and thought provoking article. Good job.

I`m happy with the content from my point of view and support the statement. I can see a real threat for the usage of the laptop from the IDTV rather than mobile phones because IDTV and laptops have more common and similar functions and features.

Good job as well
